Fellowships Program Redesign in 2019

Data & Society’s annual fellowship program has been integral to our field-building work since the first class of fellows arrived in 2014.

In 2019, after five amazing classes, we are pausing our annual fellowship application cycle in order to step back and engage our community in a program redesign.

We will still host 2-3 new Faculty Fellows starting in September 2019, but will not be posting a broader call for annual fellowships this calendar year.

We are incredibly proud of what our fellows have accomplished to date both within and outside of Data & Society. Our redesign process will benefit from the collective wisdom and expertise of our past classes of fellows who represent sectors including academia, civil society, law and policy, art, media, and the technology industry.

We are also proud of what the fellowship program represents to Data & Society: openness, experimentation, and a continual flow of people who bring new ideas, approaches, and perspectives to our core research. By being more intentional about program structure, we hope to improve our ability to support continuous learning and engagement between our researchers and the field writ large.
