Platform Governance Research Network Conference

Imagining Sustainable, Trustworthy, and Democratic Platform Governance

April 3 – 4, 2023

Data & Society is proud to be a sponsor of the Platform Governance Research Network’s second conference, which will be held on April 3 and 4, 2023. Free and entirely online, the conference is designed to accommodate platform governance researchers who are living and working across multiple time zones; sessions will run between 1100 – 1700 UTC each day. From online labor markets and locally tethered service delivery platforms to social networks and cloud providers, the conference highlights cutting-edge conceptual and empirical work that engages with the politics and policy of the 21st-century “platformized” internet. Confirmed sessions include those focusing on comparative platform regulation, governing platform business models, bridging media and platform policy, searching for justice in platform governance, empirical platform research, and many other topics.

Learn more about the conference and register on Eventbrite. Sessions will be recorded and made accessible to registrants at the end of each day.

About the Platform Governance Research Network
The Platform Governance Research Network (PlatGovNet) brings together researchers interested in “platform governance,” broadly defined. It seeks to foster cutting-edge interdisciplinary research that engages with critical social and political questions posed by a broad range of digital platforms. PlatGovNet welcomes collaborations from a wide range of researchers, who need not be affiliated with academic institutions.

The program is supported, in part, by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation
