Kiara Childs is an editor with Data & Society, a position she holds through the 2023 ACLS Leading Edge Fellowship. In this role, she works alongside the research management team to ensure rigorous editorial review of Data & Society’s reports, primers, academic publications, and other outputs.

Previously, Childs worked as a graduate teaching instructor and communications specialist at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her own research, which has been published in Social Media + Society, explores the intersection of Black women’s digital and beauty culture. She holds a PhD from the Department of Communication at UNC-Chapel Hill.
