Sam Hinds Garcia is a creative strategist who works closely with subject experts to envision and cultivate resonant stories, products, and experiences from their research insights. She directs all digital and print editorial and creative content for Data & Society.
Hinds Garcia additionally leads discrete long-term strategic engagement projects for external practitioners in media and the arts. This work aims to increase public exposure to empirical evidence, and to imbue futurist storytelling with values like dignity, equity, and justice.
Previous work includes leading communications design studio Tact Department, directing the communications and marketing wing of Creative Time, and serving as Editor-at-Large for cultural criticism site The New Inquiry. Hinds Garcia spent her early career in global outreach at post-conflict accountability NGO the International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ), and at political risk research consultancy Eurasia Group.
